Our son has only been taking Abacus classes for a few months now and we have been amazed! At first I was skeptical because I couldn’t see how learning Abacus math could benefit him. It only took a few classes for me to see the benefit!!! My son is learning mental calculations which helps with his brain development but is also learning fundamental study habits and how to focus. Our son doesn’t even look at the classes as math - he thinks it’s a really cool game and loves going to class! As an educator, I’m amazed at Miwako sensei’s ability to motivate and keep the children engaged each class session. The kids come away with a greater desire to learn more and more!

Your introduction to Abacus was a real pleasure for my class. I was not sure how my students would react to the new skill, as math is not very entertaining to most of my kids. As you progressed into the content of the lesson students were excited to find that, with the Abacus, the task of adding and subtracting multiple numbers can be entertaining. In fact it became fun, and for this I, as an alternative teacher, am very glad. It also hit me that this approach to math calculation was both a cultural and academic mental field trip. The students were benefiting in a very big way. The connection that you made with the students was because of your dynamic and inclusive teaching style. Thanks very much!

Since enrolling, we have witnessed improvement in our kids’ memory skills. They memorize spelling words and long piano pieces almost instantly and process complicated information quickly and logically. We’ve observed a boost in our daughter’s creativity and sharpened concentration and comprehension skills in our son. Our only logical answer for these developments is the abacus training they have received. I recommend JAMS to everyone. JAMS is superb, and Sensei Miwako is a loving teacher who has a passion for teaching abacus and motivating children to develop their mental gifts.
