HOW WILL YOUR CHILD SPEND SUMMER? WATCHING TV?
ABACUS SUMMER BOOTCAMP – ONLINE, LIVE WITH A TEACHER
Summer Bootcamp has 8 weeks of instruction.
The program is structured to cater to children as young as 5 years of age and as old as high school. Working in separate groups on Zoom.
Beginner students will meet on Zoom twice a week and will be given 15 minutes of homework daily. Classes are semi-private, live with a teacher, and 3 to 5 students per class.
Our Bootcamp is the most effective and most exciting way of introducing Abacus for the first time to a child because, after only 8 weeks of instruction, your child will be able to add and subtract multiple numbers at a time, faster than you can even type on the calculator. From then on, if your child decides to continue on the path, it will be a much easier transition to our regular classes and introduction of other operations such as multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, square roots, and so forth and so on.
Some parents describe it as “Magic”. We describe it as dedication, hard work, perseverance, and focus.
It doesn’t matter if your child can’t focus on academics. During our program, he/she will! Our 45-minute classes are constantly “busy” and engaging. Your child will be making the most out of that time with the teacher.
Requirements for this class: Soroban Abacus provided to your child, pencil, workbooks provided to your child, computer with camera and microphone.
An exam will be administered in week 8. Results will be posted or emailed when available.
There are no make-up weeks during Summer Camp. Individual requests for make-up classes are arranged by appointment.
ONLINE ABACUS CLASSES AT JAMS ARE HERE TO STAY!
We are pleased to inform you that students of all Abacus levels can now enroll for 100% online Abacus classes.
Online Abacus classes are not new to our JAMS teachers. We’ve been offering classes to students at a national level for two years now. And that allowed us to quickly extend the offer to all students as soon as COVID happened.
Online Abacus classes are now a permanent offering.
Students receive their materials and book by mail and get full access to our Abacutor App through iPads.
All students must have a functioning camera and a microphone on their computers.
The Student-Teacher ratio for online classes is 3 to 6 students per teacher in a group.
Some parents have been asking if we will ever offer in-person classes again. It’s too soon to confirm the exact dates but as soon as JAMS can accommodate all safety measures, students can elect to enroll in onsite Abacus classes again. Our intention is to have online, hybrid or in-person models for parents to choose from.
